It's already Monday?

I'm so behind!

I was going to do an update on my wonderful weekend and I didn't.

I was going to have all my photos downloaded for today. Not.

Pictures from dinner? Uh...nope.

Well, I did manage to open a bottle of wine, so grab a seat and let me tell you all about it...

This weekend was great! On Friday, after days of cleaning my house(ok, not really) Carissa (GoodNCrazy) came by for a visit. She brought her kids, so hers and mine played and my little boy was so thrilled to have new friends (especially older women!).

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have a big self-esteem problem. I figure I'm alright. Maybe a little rusty with face-to-face socializing, but I'm a good person, fairly entertaining.

But this was Carissa! The Carissa. Don't even tell me you don't know her. If you don't read her blog, you know her from Twitter, she probably taught you how to use it(that's how I learned). Or you know her from GNO or Mom it Forward or maybe you bought one of her great bags. I swear the woman knows everyone! And not in a "I know more people than you, neener, neener, neener!" way, either. She is the kind of person that people just really want to talk to. I loved it! I loved her! She has so many great ideas and knowledge and she was really fun to hang out with. (It's true, Sweetie, I had the best time, love you!).

Anyhow, lasagna was had by all and it was good.

On Saturday we got up, packed and made our way to Portland. I found this cool little hotel online and I could not wait to find out if it was as nice as I hoped. They were very doggie friendly. In fact they delivered a doggie bed, bowls with a doggie mat, a squeaker ball, treat and a poop bag. Very friendly folks.

The hotel itself is really new and very European in design. The lobby was lovely with lots of couches and tv's and apple computers to use (nice pool table for hubby too). Beautiful bar area and 24 hour self serve cafe. They have a fitness center (no, I didn't use it!) and a pool. Comfy lounge chairs everywhere and real pool towels. Also a really nice "backyard" with plenty of room to hang out.

They have free bicycles (cruisers?) to be used while you stay there Even a "bicycle built for two" if you are so inclined. Here are some photos - you should check this place out if you are ever in Portland. It is close to the airport, so you do hear some plane action, but it doesn't detract from the over-all cool ambiance and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and free parking too! (no kickbacks for the review, we just really liked it).

Once we got checked in and messed the place up enough to be comfy, it was time to meet my next bloggy buddy.

My Superhero BFF CC (you did say I could be your sidekick and I'm totally holding you to it!) came to be my date for the party and brought her beautiful kids over to splash in the pool with my little monster. They were all so cute. That little girl is charming. They all seemed to have a great time and she was tons of fun. I was to nervous to get in the pool, but no one seemed to mind.

Mom it Forward Portland was next and I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. It was great.

I have to admit that I was a little nervous about meeting these fabulous women, but they couldn't have been nicer or more friendly. I had a wonderful time - what a great birthday.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes you sent my way - they worked! Love you all.

  3. oh, oh! Aloft is right next to Ikea (or as Max says IPea)....that gives me an idea for a trip (a potentially expensive one). Such a cool looking hotel. There's another downtown I want to try out too, but can't recall the name of at the moment. I'm a B&B person. Have stayed in a B&B right off of Washington Park that was amazing.

Obviously I've had my quota of caffiene....
